Home Made Truck Tent

During the summer time my husband saw a website for tents that will fit on the back of a truck. Like so....

Of course my husband has to make everything himself and gets me involved whether I want to or not. But I must say it was fun making something together. Here's our tent.

My husband used conduit for the frame, used a tarp for the tent and stretchy cord with hooks to keep everything nice and snug. The mattress in the back is specially made for trucks. I had no idea there was such a thing.

We did have fun camping. My daughter didn't want to go. She said the tent was embarrassing. So me and my hubby got some quality time together. That's always nice.

  1. Nice, I like it! I'm looking for ideas on making a truck tarp/tent like this myself, for me and my 2 kiddos.

  3. where did you get all the materials? and how did you make it? I am looking for one of these and truck tents are just so expensive. Was this relatively cheap?? Thanks!

  4. Hi Heather,
All the materials cost around $100. We bought all the materials from Home Depot. My husband used conduit pipes for the frame. He had to use a special tool to shape the pipes.
